COVID 19 Information The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been exposed to COVID 19 or diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition on the COVID 19 Notification Form (available via a link on the Student Code of Conduct COVID19 webpage). This information will be provided to the Dean of Student Services. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings in compliance with the criteria included in the policy. Course Information
Description Study of the background and application of quality concepts. Topics include team skills, quality tools, statistics, economics and continuous improvement.
Prerequisites PTAC-1302 or Concurrent Enrollment
Learning Outcomes CLSOs:
1. Ability to use statistical process control to collect, organize, and analyze data used in the process industries. (PSLO 1); measured by embedded test questions, class discussion

2. Ability to describe the principles of quality control methods and equipment used in the process industries. (PSLO 2); measured by embedded test questions, class discussion.

3. Demonstrate ability to use quality tools used in process systems. (PSLO3); measured by embedded test questions, class discussion

4. Identify various types of instrumentation and equipment used to collect and analyze data used in the process industries. (PSLO 4); measured by embedded test questions, class discussion

5. Demonstrate team skills. (PSLO 3); measured by embedded test questions, class discussion of safety issues encountered during quality problem solving.
Core Objectives Teamwork: Students will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with others to support a shared purpose or goal and consider different points of view.

Chapter Tests-25%, Quizzes/homework/labs-25% Final Exam-30% Class Attendance-20 %
1. You will have 4 Major Tests and a Final Exam in this class. All tests and the exam are taken on blackboard during a specified time frame. If you miss the test and it has to be reopened, there will be an automatic deduction of 20 points. There are "NO RETAKES". If you miss "ONE" Test, your lowest current test score will be given for that test, ONLY if you missed the test due to an EXCUSED absence or a makeup test will be allowed if absence is excused per the absence policy. If you miss more than one test, you will receive a zero for each additional test you miss. If you are involved in Academic Dishonesty, you will receive a ZERO for that test. Taking the Final Exam is required to complete the course.
2. Homework assignments are to be submitted on blackboard and must be completed by due date, 20 PTS will be deducted if not submitted by due date. Homework more than a week late will not receive a grade higher than 50.
3. All grades will be posted on Blackboard.
Course Policies
Instructor Policies *Cell Phone use is not permitted in the classroom or lab except during breaks. If a student is caught on their cell phone in class, the student will be asked to leave class and counted an unexcused absence for the day.
*Students that are disruptive in class will be asked to leave and counted an unexcused absence for the day.
*The PTAC program has a dress code, failure to wear proper shoes and clothing will result in being sent out of class and counted absent for the day.



I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come to my office, in person.

Homework is to be hand written.

Attendance Policy Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Missing a day of lecture can possible cause you to drop a letter grade on tests.
1. Tardiness: Tardiness (more than 5mins), for lectures or labs, being Tardy 4 times will count as an Absence.
2. Absences: NOTE: Excused absences (verifiable) are only allowed for, an illness that requires a hospital stay, mandatory quarantine for COVID 19 exposure, or a death in your immediate family, excluding aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 5 absences=drop 1 letter grade, 7 absences=drop 2 letter grades, 9-absences=drop 3 letter grades, 11 absences=F
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
